Just pre-ordered (I guess) my copy of the book and I’m very much looking forward to it’s arrival, whenever that may be. It will be nice to get a suprise in the post early next year 🙂

I’m not going to excuse publishers’ websites being out of date. Grub Street won’t be the last publisher who aren’t as web-savvy as they should be.

My point was if you’re going to phone someone who knows, the publisher will.

Your phoning WHS was perfectly reasonable, but beyond that they don’t have it, their info isn’t as reliable as the publisher’s. That’s the next step – or here!

The people who will always know are the publishers – in this case, Grub Street.

If only it were true…

Grub Street’s web page for the book also has the 19th Sept publication date.
You are invited to ‘Add to basket’, the button then changes to ‘out of stock’.!

What’s thrown me is that Amazon are still showing a publication date of 19th September!

Amazon were the original main user who were unable to realise differentiating between ‘out of stock’ and ‘not yet published’ was important to everyone else, with the result that other retailers have dropped the important distinction. They found a business advantage in ignoring it.

Publishers provide the publication data collectors with a good deal of info, including a proposed publishing date, which retailers can then use.

For many reasons publication dates can and do change from the proposed; sometimes the information on this doesn’t get passed on, or gets lost at a point before the buyer.

The people who will always know are the publishers – in this case, Grub Street.

Andy’s also mentioned the delay in the thread on the Spitfire.

The Author, Andy Saunders, posts on here under the user name ‘Tangmere1940’ – so if you check his posts you will find updates re publication of the book – I think he aid it was now going to be early next year – but best verify with him rather than trust my memory!

Pretty sure that’s what he said. I think it had been hoped that the book would be published to coincide with the Spitfire’s first flight, but as this didn’t happen until slightly later than planned, the book’s publication was pushed back.

Many thanks everyone, the thread above makes it clear.

What’s thrown me is that Amazon are still showing a publication date of 19th September!

Hi Peter

Many thanks…

It is the book, but when I rang WHS they have no stock – the ‘5-7 days’ is a catch all to get you to order when they have no idea when they are coming in. Grub St (Who would supply WHS) have no stock…

Not really my sphere of interest, but is this the book in question?

Availability quoted as 5-7 working days

Cheers
