A friend has been offered a chance to buy what we believe to be a compass from a Lanc – pics below, scanned from prints. As friend nor I are not collectors what should we be looking out for, apart from being wary of the luminous paint on the dial ? advice please, all you knowledgable forumites.

I aquired one from a chap who had used one on a fishing boat, in perfect working order and in its case with service dates stamped in the lid. i got a free copy of the manual from IWM. The compass cost me £10 in 1997
