RAF pay in WWII

Found an original booklet with requirements for joining the RAF interestingly it quotes rates of pay, times have changed.

Don’t forget that wage inflation since WWII has cinsiderably outstripped general inflation, whether CPI or RPI

That’s the page that was posted a while back in reply to a request of mine.

While the money was not enough to set up home on,as a Pilot Officer I ran a 2 litre car, pub most nights, & London clubs & shows as required!

Indeed. Recalculated for inflation the Pilot Officer on £237 in say 1940 would be just over £11,000 now and the Flight Lieutenant on £648 would be just mover £31,000 now.
