DC-7 in recent Flypast

I was recently notified of a photo in the Flypast news section from a month ago or so. It supposedly shows one of the ex- Cordoba, Spain based tankers formerly owned by Basaer. I was told that both were scrapped after useable parts were removed, but apparently not. It is as I understand it displayed in a park (?) somewhere in mainland Spain. I do not have the issue and wonder if a forumite who have the mag can see if this is the former SAS 7C SE-CCF or the former BOAC G-AOIB. If it is the old SAS machine she has the original cockpit windows, while former G-AOIB has an extra window above the regular side window.

I’d like to see one of the former SAS 7C’s survive as the only other remaining example was cut up in Sudan a couple of years ago.

That’s the old SAS machine all right. Glad to see they’ve saved at least one of the mighty 7Cs. Thanks a lot gentlemen, you came through with flying colors…

Although saved, I can think of several instances where some genuine Richard Cranium has felt the need to douse a former airliner with gasoline and light it up. Several of the old gun running Connies from the Biafran airlift which littered Europe does spring to mind. Anyway, glad to see the 7 in one piece.

The issue is the September 2011 one, page 12. A very good picture advertising Cordoba 2016 and ultimately to be converted into an art gallery, makes a change from a restaurant. The plane is a former Basear water bomber EC-GGC, ex EC-889, N9734Z and SE-CCF. A sister machine EC-GGB was scrapped in 2010. EC-GGC has three windows on the starboard side of the cockpit and no extra window. Hope this helps. 🙂

I would love to see one of the old BOAC machines survive but the odds are getting thinner!
