Yesterday saw Elvington paying host to the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu. The occasion was the dedication of Nimrod XV250 to the memory of those who died aboard her sister XV230 over Afghanistan, slightly over 5 years ago.
The commemoration consisted of a dedication service in the hangar, lead by Dr. Sentamu. Present were many of us volunteers, former air and ground crew associated with Nimrod, and most importantly the relatives and friends of those who were aboard ‘230 that day.
After the service it was ‘to the jets’ for the Nimrod to make some noise. It was the day for the Mighty Hunter to take centre stage, so Lindy stayed quiet.
