The Alberta Aviation Museum with its partner 418 “City of Edmonton” Squadron is proud to announce the “Roll out” Ceremony for our latest restoration.
September 3rd at 1:00pm we will be presenting to the public our North American B-25 Bomber redone to be representative of the aircraft operated by 418 “City of Edmonton” Squadron during the 1950s from the hangar that now houses the Alberta Aviation Museum. Guests to include the restoration team, 418 Squadron members and dignitaries.
This roll out of this aircraft is a remarkable achievement by the volunteers of the Alberta Aviation Museum as it represents 7 years and many tens of thousands of hours of volunteer time. The volunteers ranged from teenagers to gentlemen in their 80s and 90s spanning generations with their dedication.
When donated by the family of Terry Harold the aircraft had been derelict at their family farm for many decades having been part of their Water Bomber operations. The airframe while sound was missing many components and had suffered from some damage. The Alberta Aviation Museum/418 Squadron team scoured North American to secure the parts required and then restored the 67 year old components to create the masterpiece that will be presented.
The “Roll out” is the highlight of the 70th Anniversary of 418 “City of Edmonton” Squadron founded during the Second World War and leaving a history of accomplishments and honours that will last the test of time.

Once again thanks everyone for the kind words…our team has done a great job.

She is set up as a 418 Squadron 1950s strike aircraft so much different than the usual Second World War appearance.
No top turret, astro dome instead. No waist guns or tail turret guns in place.
(4) 50s on the sides and (2) in the nose for strafing.
Imagine these young crews were expected to fly North from Edmonton to stop the Communist hoards coming over the pole.

The Starboard wing was installed about 1hr after the photo.
