….Whats the going rate on RR Gnomes/Nimbus’ these days?
Doesnt have to be pristine just one that could with a little work be made to run?
Genuinely interested – I may not have the funds to hand (dependant on price) but as always I have one of those idea’s that just wont go away and to facilitate it I need a small turboshaft gas turbine in the ~1000 shp region 🙂
:diablo:
Any cheeky leads to a cheap engine will be welcomed and rewarded with large quantities of beer/wine/good looking loose women 😉

My basic idea is to stick it in a speedboat 🙂
Having read through Mark Nye’s website its very appealing 😀 I figured that or a nimbus couple to a racing prop or a jet drive would make it a monster! lol
Basically where I go on holiday its all about the speedboats, I want to build something that no one else has 😀

I believe the Gnome attracts a good price as they are popular amongst the tractor pulling fraternity in the USA, hence why Everrett aero sold out…… perhaps they could give you a ball park figure. Built a few up in my time…… LOL
Perhaps a vulcan apu would be more to your suiting, it is the Rover engine that was originally going in a car…….gawd knows the differences…

Could do, though I guess if its been lying in a carpark for a while, the possibilities of it ever running again without a horrendous amount of money put into it are slim to none? 🙁
Again bump up for this please 😀

No idea, but Anchor Supplies at Ripley have had a Gnome or something similar lying in their car park for a while. Ring them?

No one believes you are serious!;) But it has been very quiet most of the day, so perhaps members are busy with other stuff…….

bump up for my first question 🙂
By: Nashio966 - 24th August 2011 at 08:29
Haha no 😉 Actually although the car im building at the moment has an engine that looks rather similar to a salad mixer :diablo:
No valves, no camshafts, no timing chains/belts – Its a 1.3 has two turbochargers running sequentially (basically full boost by 2100rpm!! 😀 ) and will make 370 bhp at the fly when she’s all back together 😉
This is another form of insanity that I need to indulge – As much as id love a jet powered car, I cannot see my mechcanical prowess being able to stretch that far!!

Nothing to do with that “car” you were telling us about a while back, before your temporary absence, by any chance?;):diablo:
