Spitalfields Antique Market

Wandering around the above – largely tat rather than antiques it must be said – I noticed one stall specializing in militaria. Some interesting bits on offer. Clearly recognizable was the cannon muzzle panel from a mosquito – this had been sold. A box of twisted skins allegedly from`k` series spitfire 1 that crashed at hanningford (iirc ) in 1940 and a shredded looking prop blade said to be from a FW190 that crashed and burned in Normandy. Asking price of 450. Interesting what pops up in the unlikliest of places!

Ah! K9993. We used to have the substantial remains of that at the Rebel Air Museum. Didn’t it move to the Purfleet Heritage Centre? I hadn’t realise bits of it were on the market.

Steve

Are the `London Bridge` or `Angel` Saturday Militaria markets still going?

Ha! Coincidence, I was at the very same stall yesterday. Indeed some interesting items and well worth a look. I thought I saw a bullet proof canopy front. I maybe wrong. Anyway it must have been you talking to the stall owner.

[K9993] could be, seems familiar though I didn’t commit to memory. The ticket mentioned the pilot suffered slight burns.

Indeed. Dont suppose you had your camera with you :).

Sadly, no, and my phone had gone flat as well 🙁 I’ll stroll back that way next week and see what else is there.
