What is this

Hi Guys
a friend of mine has found an instrument on his boat which was left by the previous owner in the fifties/sixties.He was a Commander Moncreith believed to be Navy/Fleet air arm ? the serial number is AM (Air Ministry?) on top with crown over then REF No.6A/0354 above the crown/AM mark is an independent L mark and also on the side is marked AFT. There are four outlet drives each with a square pin and the mechanism is like an expensive watch the opposite drives if turned rotate the opposite direction.
If the pics don’t come up somebody might advise me

It’s a compass corrector. Set underneath the “P” series of compasses and adjusted by a key.

I believe air ministry aircraft compasses were used in RAF launches and post-war private boats too.

It is off a compass and is called a compass bias block it is an early one and I would love it for my Mk1 project!!!It mounts to the bottom of a P4,8,6 etc compass and is used to correct for anomalies…it has little magnets in it.
