Hi
This is not a shameless plug for the attached link,
http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?id=1090614
The photo was taken by my late Father Frank Hudson, it shows Vickers Vikings in the gravel pits at Bedfont near Heathrow in 1962.
I have a memory of Dad telling me that they were buried under what is now a housing estate in Bedfont or Feltham, does anyone know if there is any truth in the matter ?
This is for some research I am helping someone with.
Thanks
Mike

I was thinking along those lines too..can’t think of any other BEA Viscounts wrecked at Heathrow…not in any major way.

The BEA Viscount (G-AMOK) that hit the construction equipment was repaired so I doubt it was in that yard, unless they stored it there until Marshalls picked it up for the rebuild.

The yard in question was in Bedfont Road, on the left just before the bend, heading towards Bedfont itself. Next to the cemetery. It later had the BEA Viscount that hit construction equipment on take-off (the plane, not the…..). Used the wrong runway,I believe. Now, as others have pointed out, partly a lake..

Hallo Mike….A classic photo of your father’s!….having lived in the area I’ve got my doubts that anybody round there would have let scrap aluminium get (or stay) buried…it was and still is worth a bit of money….the rest of the picture gives the impression of a transport yard. A lot of Bedfont was dug for gravel then backfilled with rubbish after which there has to be a ‘settling’ period before house building can take place (if ever!)….Mick
