Moving farther out of the “Traditional” box…
The Alberta Aviation Museum is proud to be one of the few Heritage organizations that have not been afraid to move beyond traditional barriers and with this latest announcement we are continuing the trend.
The Alberta Aviation Museum is proud to announce an industry partnership with Buffalo Airways of “Ice Pilots” fame to create a 21st Century Lockheed Electra Procedural Flight Training Simulator.
The Simulator is to be used by Buffalo Airways as a procedural trainer for their Lockheed Electra Cargo and Water Suppression (Fire Bombing) aircraft. This will allow our Buffalo Airways to more economically complete required recurrent flight training in a safe secure system.
The Simulator is planned to be the first in series designed to target niche’ markets that are currently not serviced by conventional flight simulators.
We will be working with Buffalo Airways and Transport Canada to be sure all requirements are met.
The Project will be headed by Mr. Dave Heathcote the Alberta Aviation Museum’s Director of Education and Technology.
In keeping with preserving Alberta’s aviation heritage the complex electronic systems will be mounted into a 1959 Simulator cockpit that will be restored in the Alberta Aviation Museum to its original new appearance.
A fantastic example of Industry and Heritage working together for the future, while preserving our Aviation History and Heritage.
