Just been reading my copy of the new “Wrecks & Relics – Lost Aviation Collections of Britain” by Ken Ellis.
In there is reference to Hunter F4 XF309 which was in the Finningley Museum for about 7 years, before being purchased by H-S for refurb and onward sale to the Kenyan Air Force.
I know this happens with wheeled and tracked vehicles – such as the WW1 MkIV tank put back into service at Whale island naval gunnery school during WW2 and the Humber Pigs bought back from scrapyards and collectors but this must be a pretty rare occurrence for aircraft.
Are there any other examples that people know about?
