Chinook Accident 1994

Dear Each/All,
So does a 1994 Chinook prang qualify as Historic Aviation?
The two Pilots have, currently, been cleared of “Gross Negligence”. Very Good News – especially for the families.
But I worry about these sorts of things. Of the two Air Marshals who originally came to that conclusion, “Bill” Wratten was my (and the first) OC RAF Stanley. Day was AOC 1 Grp at the time of the prang. I did not think either of them were shysters – on the contrary! Why did they come to the conclusions that they did? Were they “leant on” by politicians to “hide” the alleged facts that the Chinook program was “less than a bright shining light” in the history of MoD procurements and updates (one – I regret to say – of many!). I’ve also done many, many, Tactical Training Detachments to Machrihanish – and I know just how foul the weather can be!
If the Mods will permit a discussion then it will – almost certainly – create a great deal of heat (but, possibly, not much light)! But that tiny bit of light might just be instructive?
