Trip report – Legends, RAFM, Newark (Picture heavy)

Trip Report – Duxford (Legends), Hendon & Newark.

One of the problems with living in an area so far from civilisation, is the vast distances one has to travel in order to see aeroplanes… The Legends weekend has turned into a ‘few days away for the family’, involving six of us, two cars, several hundred miles travel and some nights in the cheapest hotel we can find. In this case, it was a not-so nasty place in North Weald!
Saturday is always Legends day, and as usual, the show was amazing, and incident-free (unlike the following day!) Legends speaks for itself – THE best warbird show in the world. Luckily (!) we have disabled persons in our party, so we can park on the airfield itself – no queues, no fuss, parking 3 rows behind a line-up of Spitfires…. It doesn’t get much better than that. Who is the French commentator? I don’t know whether the guy is nuts or a comic genius….

I’ve always followed the posts regarding TG517 with interest. I know it’s a HP product, but for some reason I like the old thing.

Even if she were fit to run – and I’m betting the problems caused by several years of inactivity would be fun to try and sort out – she is rather hemmed in. Possibly the only place on site where an aircraft could be run would be near the T-33?

Regards

Rich

I’m not sure to what extent WR977 was fully ‘re-plumbed’ back in 1977/8 and I would personally think that running is highly unlikely – not least because of the confines of its current location. It’s good to note that the repaint is continuing.

As for the Hastings – that’s been talked through many times around here and due to the restricted search function this is the best link that I can provide http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=96055 but it does contain several other links relating to the topic that are worth following!
