Crash request info thread in general in historics.

I would like to start a discussion whether or not the introduction of a crash information Sticky or such like would be a good idea or not.

Using recent events as a starting point and a fictional crash to highlight the problems as I see it.

Ok. So we have the sad incident at Duxford the other day and everyone obviously feels it. (This could equally have been any incident either fatal or non fatal anywhere in the country) Forum member A posts Duxford Crash (or whatever the title may be) and everyone reads the post. Meanwhile forum member B post a thread saying London Crash.

Now member A has kittens thinking that there has been another crash while member B is simply looking for information on the crash that his uncle escaped from in the 1950’s

So my question is should we have a Crash Information sticky or bring it into the CoC.

I would like to see this as a sticky as it might help reduce the amount of thread title changes a mod would have to do.

It would also stop Member A and others from having near fatal heart failure thinking that there has been a spate of accidents.

I am opening this up to the forum to discuss the practicality of having such guidelines and what you would like to see written in these guidelines.

I would like to see a Sticky on the subject rather than put it in the CoC because at some point you will glance up and see the Crash Info sticky and read it but how many people actually read the CoC having said yes when they registered. I read the CoC recently but only because I hadnt in so long.

Suggestions for guidelines…..

I would like to suggest that as a minimum a crash info thread should have at least a date or a timeline range. This along with the aircraft type and location if known should be added.

With these and maybe a few other suggestions maybe things like this wont be such a problem in future. It always happens when there has been an incident and someone innocently posts a request for info. We have all see it happen before but I think this kind of guideline might help people understand the importance of having a date or timeline to go by.

Ok over to you. What do you all think?

This could even be extended to General aviation come to think of it.
