The 16 Airmen of Fogo

On a recent trip to Scotland I came across the small village of Fogo and was surprised to see 16 WW2 Graves (see images).
Anyone have information about the crews or RAF Charterhall.

I also popped along to East Fortune and was surprised to see a Blenheim and Beaufighter.

East Fortune is well worth a visit as it has a large collection of the original buildings and hangers, including the control tower, still intact and an impressive parachute store display.

Charterhall

Didn’t Charterhall gain the morbid nickname of Slaughterhall due to the high number of casualties there during the war?

Worth getting a copy of “The Charterhall Story” J B Thompson.

O’Leary died in the crash of Beaufighter V8614. Also killed were Flt Lt J H Metcalf, Fg Off H Stewart and Flt Sgt J Postlethwaite.

The aircraft had a starboard engine failure on take-off.
