Remember "The Forgotten Bomber"

Work on the repair of the repair and conversion to Mark 1 status of the worlds only airworthy Bristol Blenheim continues. The same dedication that was applied to the original restorations will result in the aircraft taking to the skies again in the future. Some of you may never have seen her fly, many more will remember her fondly.

To jog your memories or to introduce you to the aircraft, I have put 3 short videos online on the FlyingMachinesTV Youtube channel here

Not a bad film and one I’d never heard of. I was surprised to have it pop up on TCM.

It’s a cracking little film, IMHO. Great cast and a well told story. Not to mention all those gorgeous aircraft dressing the set.

I was hoping to find it on youtube (I watched Went The Day Well there the other week), but unfortunately it’s not been uploaded. Only odd bits and pieces.

The UK title was The Way To The Stars, intended to do for the RAF what The Way Ahead did for the infantry.

That’s what it was called here, but I thought that was the US title, so I used what I thought was the UK title.:o
Thanks for the correction.

I saw a Blenheim the other night on television in the 1945 UK film,
Johnny in the Clouds. It was good to see one (as well as an Anson and Bostons..and some B-17s) on film.

Thanks Steve, we sometimes forget how good the Blenheim looks in the air, even those of us who work on it every week of the year. I would also like to thank all those who help us with the donations, whatever amount, and of course the Blenheim Society without whose extraordinary fund raising efforts throughout the years we would not be able to do what we are doing. All work on the airframe is still voluntary although we hope to employ a full time engineer on the engines in the near future.
Blenheim Society is open to all, and amazingly we are still recruiting Blenheim veterans, we had 15 at our last meeting in October 2010.

Many thanks again we are on course to seeing her back. A few more ££££s would help

I’m too look forward to it flying again.
I’ve made small donations to the last two rebuild efforts when I saw those ships being worked on at Duxford overthe years. It will be nice to see a Mk 1.

One of my favorites. I look forward to seeing this aircraft when it is flying…even if only through video clips or photos.

Gorgeous videos!

Thanks so much for posting.

And thanks for the plug for the Blenheim Society!

Keep up the support, and she’ll be back in the air before too long!

Cheers

I have supported the Blenheim project for many years now, well before she had the last accident. I am really looking forward to seeing her fly again and grace our airshows once more. She has been missed. After all you cant beat a good pair of Bristols!
