Sea Harriers on the move

Heading south from Worcester on the M5 this morning I over took Sea Harrier FA.2’S ZH801 and ZH800 on two separate lorries with a third lorry carrying the wings and tail planes etc. Anyone have any idea where they were heading? Yeovilton perhaps?

Cheers, Plazz

Don’t even start that rumour 😉

Probably Tornados from Marham, been operating over Wittering ready for deployment.

Tonight I wont be drinking and therefor i’ll get a proper look and listen, maybe even a wander off to Wittering.

I can just imagine that!

Be nice to see the FRS2s and Tbird all on display one day if we’re lucky. Do they still have the P.1127 there as I’d love to see a hangar dedicated to V/STOL

The Sea Harriers are actually F/A2’s not FRS2’s, the P1127, Sea Harrier F/A2 and the GR3 which has a FRS1 nose and is on the ramp are all still on display inside the FAAM. The 2 F/A2’s that arrived yesterday and the T8 still to come are not part of the FAAM collection so will not be on display in the museum.

I saw the two lovely ladies about 08:30 on the back of flatbed lorries heading south today near Woolfox lodge, the wings followed a few yards later.

Also, about 23:30 last night, the GF and I where just walking home and heard aircraft over head (Stamford), where they Harriers??? really sounded like it, night flights and circuits just like the good old days, the GF also thinks the same, she grew up in Wittering village

Any ideas?

The RN have probably got a secret Carrier stashed away somewhere. They are going to re-arm & go it alone …..Sod the government.

I believe that is a reference to Hangar 15 at RNAS Yeovilton in Somerset. 🙂
