Landowner wanted some left as a memorial,it was a minor miracle that any parts were officially recovered.

I agree, it was the right thing to do. And it made for a very interesting (and moving) display at the airshow. I hope the artefacts are similarly displayed this year.

Waddington made recoveries over two sessions.In my view it was correct to finally have an official recovery.
Still a fair amount left as last weeks pics show when compared to many high ground wrecks.Ironically the location of this site was left out of the High ground wrecks books but it did not stop the determined collectors.

The site was cherry picked illegally by a well known collector. The landowners got fed up and eventually the site was virtually cleared by the RAF. Not sure where the parts are now – someone here will know…
