Can any one shed more light on an aeroplane that crashed into an orchard at the side of the railway in Beeston Rylands, Nottingham sometime in the early 1940’s. I remember the plane was a monoplane that had no fabric covering left on it, although the cockpit controls still operated the flaps and rudder. The RAF turned up with a low loader about 1946/47 and removed the wreckage. does anyone know what type of plane it could have been and how it came to be there.
