Hi All
I thought it was about time I did an update on our Chipmunk project, as we have not been active on here for some time.
As some will know, we were making quite steady progress with her, and all was going well. We knew the belly would need a little work, but in all honeaty had nat had a propper look!!
Anyway, I made some stands to support her, and over she went. Thats when we got the supprise, when she crashed back on 20th May 1968, we knew she had brocken her back, what we didn’t know was that a main wheel (or possibly both) had folded underneath her and caused seveer damage to the belly area directly beneath the rear cockpit. On top of this, she had been both stored on her belly, and dragged about on it ever since, which had compounded the damage. There was much corrosion and even more damage.
As some of you know, Max and I always work to the highest standards our limmited resourcess allow, so we have spent the last 18 months removing, repairing and re skinning around half of the belly, including the wonderfull double curved area behind the sparr attachments, hard work, buy very rewarding now complete.
Unfortunatly time has been against us, and we wont be ready to show her at Cockpitfest this year, and Max has not had any time to work on his instrument panels either (women and work!!!), although we will both be along as spectators on the Saturday to see and support our many friends.
Bellow are a couple of photos, sort of before and after stuff.
We are now looking for anything for the firewall forward are, literaly anything considered, if you have any treasure to spare.

Hi Fouga23
Sorry I didn’t reply sooner, but had a spell of ill health to get out of the way before Cockpitfest 2014.
If you have a look at the Cockpitfest thread, Pully has posted a nice photo of the old girl.
If you want any other details just send a PM and we will be glad to help.
Best wishes,
Ritch.

That’s the price we pay!!
Hi Jon
That’s the price we all pay to get to play airplanes!! I got a boat that I keep at a marina near home, that way I get back to play quicker!!!
Best wishes,
Ritch.
