BAC_TSR.2 vs N.A_A3J

I read some stuff, and most of them appreciated BAC TSR.2 so much that brought the impression to any reader that TSR.2 was the most advanced/superior supersonic bomber at its time. Abandoned it was a complete misfortune for the British aviation developing.
Despite the domestic politics of British then, was TSR.2 really such perfect on specification? I’d come to say she is nice-looking and with some progress but also overestimated.
Here we got a fair competator:

Both of them are capable of loading weapon internally on equal quality or quantity.
Both of them are capable to reach almost same combat radius with weapon internally loaded.
Both of them have same top speed and similar altitude believed
Both of them need 2 crew to fly.
The only difference is that TSR.2 longer about 20% and narrower 8% than A3J. For compensating this diameter expended, TSR.2 mounted with more powerfule engine but seems neither speed nor range to be promoted.
Doubtfully, in order to get a higher speed, the TSR.2 fitted with a smaller wing with its angle swept more than A3J, therefor, a capability of external weapon loading was cutdown compare to the A3J at least.

So, I have to ask you, is that indeed worth to raise a total new design to be TSR.2 or maybe an imination of Vigilante with slightly size enlarged would be more economical?
