William Sidebottom

I can see in Ancestry that William Sidebottom, from Hyde, Gtr Manchester, born Oct 1893 was awarded the DFC. Where would I start looking for any service record in the 2nd WW, if in fact he made it that far? There’s a Wiki page suggesting he went out to Russia but nothing later and I can’t find a record of his death.
He was with 203sqn.

He’s sort of linked to my family being the uncle of my mother’s uncle’s wife!
