Is the Shackleton being restored?
I heard a rumor (could be true) that she was up for sale.
Don’t quote me on it though.

I’ve only just got that!:D:D
I think I know the Shack 3 you mean FB, surprised that scrapping it is the alternative though:confused:
Well the powers that be have made that sweeping statement apparantly or so the man alledgedly in the know has said .

It’d be difficult to make it into a walkthrough exhibit with a lack of floors…

I did hear a rumour and strictly that .The Duxford aircraft was possibly being surveyed for possibly being either broken or just dismantled.
But I suspect the IWM who own it will not be very forthcoming as to its future plans.

Go on then I will throw my hat back into the ring.
I cant say which Shaclleton it is but thing slooked bleak for us when we were told that we could not be considered for the aircraft in question because we had a private sponsor who wanted to keep the aircraft not break it and pay for it to be restored to ground running taxiable state if possible. Its new home would be in the North East (ish)of England.
We have done all the leg work we have a company with 5 transporters ready to move the aircraft and keep her safe not scrapped as has been suggested if she does not find a new home. But we have been told that the new owners must be an organisation not an individual.Anyway we HAVE now thrown our hat back into the ring with a vengence on behalf of two organisations to save the aircraft and it go to the same organisation. We have been recently told that there ar etwo other organisation sinterested but with all due respect to them and to be blunt they dont have the sponsor with the funds available we do (growlers dont move for peanuts). And also th eother alledged parties we feel probably want to break the aircraft for spare.
AND NO ITS NOT THE LONG MARSTON AIRCRAFT!!!!.:diablo::diablo::diablo::diablo::diablo:

Talk of the Duxford MR.3 reminds me of the time that my father was a security guard there;
Not long after she had flown in and joined the collection, there began to appear a collection of ciggy butts inside the fuselage. Thinking these belonged to teenagers gaining access to the aircraft after dark (no fences in them days) my father was planning on spending the night inside her, to try and catch the culprits red handed. But before he needed too it turned out to be a museum member who had been popping inside for a smoke break :p.

I could take a wild guess – but I’m not going to start any other rumours going.
Especially as we have already done that under the relevant thread!
Re the Duxford Shack there were proposals years ago to turn it into a sectioned walk through fuselage, I take it that has fallen by the way side?

TO, the BAPC ‘advert’ didn’t give a location or identity so I still don’t know 🙁

I don’t think so – I was referring to Roger’s post!

Which is the one on the BAPC list is it Duxfords.

That’d be the one that BAPC advertised in the last mailing!
