BBMF Dakota ZA947 New colour scheme

BBMF’s Dakota has now arrived back at RAF Coningsby following a major overhaul at Humberside. As no one seems to have cottoned on to this and its new colours I thought I would post some pictures taken by one of my collegues for me. I was fortunate enough to have been asked to research the scheme and supervise the layout application at Manchester Airport where it was painted. The paint isn’t as shiney as it looks! There was one piece of detail that couldn’t be deciphered though and that is on the artwork aft of the cockpit, where a ghostly figure outline can be seen on the picture of the original aircraft held by IWM. It may be of an infantryman with a rifle across his chest and possibly turning around. However as I could not be 100% sure it was decided to leave it off pending further evidence coming to light when the aeroplane makes it out and about. Anyone with info on this can PM me or contact me via the flight or ARC. Many thanks to Geoff and Gary at Air Livery (Manchester) for their attention to detail and interest in the scheme and Darren at Norwich for the graphic assistance. The UK is supposed to be on the slant, that’s how it was! 🙂
