Sywell Aviation Museum Expands – Paul Morgan Hall

On Easter Saturday, 23rd April 2011 the Sywell Aviation Museum is due to open a brand new hall dedicated to the history of the aerodrome. Opened in 2001 this is the Museum’s first expansion, a former-POW camp Nissen hut has been re-erected on site with all cost met by the museum’s own fundraising. For the first time the hall will enable the Museum to display its de Havilland Chipmunk (WG419) and Vampire (XD599) and Tiger Moth G-BHLT (on loan from the folks at Skymax Aviation) cockpits. In addition a fully refurbished wartime Link trainer will also be displayed within! Phase two of expansion is underway with a second hall to be completed by the end of the year.The new hall is to be named the Paul Morgan Hall in memory of the well-known warbird pilot who sadly lost his life at Sywell in the crash of Sea Fury G-EEMV ten years ago in May. The grand opening will be attended by local dignitaries, re-enactors, military vehicles and it is hoped that our good chum Mr Teichman might be able to visit us too !

The Museum opens at 10.30 with the formal unveiling of the hall at 11.30
