Seeking information on Spitfire? crash at Glastonbury

My father has told me about an incident that occurred when he was a teenage boy living near Glastonbury. He says that a Spitfire made a wheels up landing in one of the fields just outside the town. He remembers going down to see it with friends from school when the word got around. The pilot was alright but at least one cow was a casualty, losing its legs. They couldn’t get close to the plane as there was already a sentry guarding it when they got there. He says it was before the war started so some time in 38/39. Dad is in his eighties so the details are a bit sketchy ie. all fighters were Spitfires to him and his friends so it could have been something else, Hurricane ,Defiant etc. I haven’t found anything on it in my books on local history but they mainly cover the war years rather than pre-war. Can anyone help with information or point me in the right direction for research?
