Wattisham Airfield H.A.S Museum – 09Mar11

On Wednesday I was on a trip arranged by the Training & Development Flight at RAF Wyton, to one of the visitors days that the AAC at Wattisham hold 3 times a year. We arrived about an hour early for the presentation so we could include the aircraft part of the Wattisham Museum. A nice little trip through the Southern HAS site and on to the Northern HAS Site where the museum is located. Due to the shortness of time and lighting conditions, I left the camera on AUTO and let it do all the working out so some high ISO numbers.

Funny that outer wing section is the same side as the one missing off the luffenham one, they might be able to move it lump by lump

Wattisham Museum

Rumour has it that the Wattisham Museum may be getting a couple of Phantom cockpits sections for display. Both ex-74sqn machines they will fit well with the present collection as the new HAS museum building is part of the old 74sqn site.

Return of the Toom…?

I haven’t been to Wattisham since the last Phantom’s left in 1992 but would love to visit again!

I see apart from the Phantom tail there is an outer wing section also from a ‘Toom’. Any plans to recover the Phantom from RAF North Luffenham for display at Wattisham??
