"The Man in the Sky" new DVD mystery?

Hi,

I’ve recently seen this film again after waiting 30 years and
the Ealing Studios DVD release is very well done. But one
question bugs me watching the aerial sequences again.

The Bristol Freigter used – G-AIFV – had no dorsal tail fillet
in the ground shots as clearly seen in the film but in the air
there are several clear shots of it with a dorsal fin!!

I had considered the second Freighter – G-AIFM, thats in a
hangar, might have been used but after googling period
stills of both aircraft I cannot see a dorsal fin on either?

Anyone with some inside knowledge?
Cheers.

I saw a clip from the film and noticed that too. On looking more closely it is not a Bristol Freighter dorsal fin…it’s a different shape and not blended in.

It looks like a temp addition possibly because of the way they were throwing it about they needed an increase to the fin area for safety???

That was certainly a Srs.21 without a dorsal…normally

G-AIFV was damaged in the filming but repaired and returned to Silver City..minus the dorsal.
