25th Fighter SQN RAF Hawkenge

I’m getting nowhere with the RAF records so I wondered if you clever lot could help.

I’m looking for information about the 25th from their time at Hawkenge in Kent, my target dates are 1926 to 1933 but obviously any leads with formation will be gratefully received.

The name I’m tracing in particular is William Lancelot Manuel who was defiantly with the unit 1928-1932 but may well of been there before and a little after. I also know he was married whilst serving at the station (1932 at Elham, parish church for Hawkinge), past parish records no information has been found.

Any pointers to photographs of the sqn would be a massive help.

This is part of on going research in to Barton In The Clay’s lost airfield.. thread on Bill Manuel can found here.

Hi,

You could search through 25 Squadrons ORB at the following web site:
www.oldrafrecords.com
You have the ability to choose all entries mentioning Hawkinge which should save you a bit of searching,
All the best

In case the search engines are very precise it is “Hawkinge”.
