I am cleaning some slides and helping with an article.
For the caption can anybody please identify this car that was on the film set among the Buchons at Tablada.
Lancia, Fiat, whatever?

The Opel badge from the 1920’s.
These things tend to evolve to a theme over time.

So does that make it a Vauxhall;) looks a bit like my old Marina’s bet it didn’t rust as much.

It’s an Opel P4

My ’43 Ford G8T has an inlet like that in front of the screen… as do lots of other models etc

The rectangular flap ahead of the windscreen would most likely have been a direct air inlet. Now what did I own that had one? Must have been my 1952 Opel Rekord.

Doesn’t look much like a red X in a box to me, Moggy… (the pic isn’t working!)

The badge looks a lot like a Delage, but they tended to be a bit more sporting.

Thank you, I knew I’d seen a black oval badge on some make of car now you’ve pinned it down. Oops, looks like I got it wrong again. Ford and delage-both blue, so who was the other one?

How’s this looking?

1931 Opel 1.2 litre
The clincher is the little rectangular flap in the centre of the bonnet (hood) immediately below the windscreen to my mind.

Opel P3. That sorts the rad grille out.

By: N.Wotherspoon - 6th March 2011 at 00:37
Badge seems to be a pointed ellipse, unlike the Delage badge, which is a more rounded shape and as Moggy says, the car doesn’t fit in with the marque. Looks like a typical pre-war “peoples’ car” style, though the grill looks wrong for an Opel + their badge was circular?
Sorry ZRX61 – looks like we overlapped!

I agree about the badge..and the body styles.
I think Delarge was a luxury/sporty car. The one in the film looks like an Austin 7 competitor.
There is one in here that vaguely looks like it…the 1930 Delage DS 14CV Six

What ever you do, do not put ‘car manufacturers” into wiki….It only lists Seat for Spain.. but hundreds for France.
By: Mark12 - 6th March 2011 at 00:05
I favour a military version of the Opel P4. Apart from the front grill most of the key features match.

This was German airfield dressing at Tablada in Spain They had all the Mercedes staff cars and Kubekwagens down there, presumably shipped out from Germany.

I’m not so sure it is blue I reckon it is more likely to be black and I’m now racking my grey matter trying to remember which continental motor manufacturer used a black oval background, I know I have seen one somewhere and can’t remember where or what it was on.
By: ZRX61 - 5th March 2011 at 22:44
The question is, how many other manufacturers used a blue oval? I’m thinking a few..
