Seriously though, the FAA have called time on 100LL avgas and if they have their way it will be gone by the end of the decade. There are various proposals for an unleaded equivalent but whether it will have an octane rating high enough for the Merlin is debatable. I don’t see Shuttleworth fitting a diesel on the Hurricane somehow.

… ,i talk to a lot of ham ,s in the USA on the radio and they tell me they are paying around 4 Dollars for 1 Gallon ,about £1-80 and they think its really expensive there !!!!!
I too live in Norfolk and it is quite irritating that many of my neighbours are paying about £1.80 per gallon for their car fuel whilst I’m paying £1.80 litre for my Avgas.

It is just a matter of motivation..

🙁 At this rate there won’t be the fuel to attend or even get the planes in the air.:(

Depends where you are, £1.79 at Sywell;)
By: Sopwith - 4th March 2011 at 20:24
£1.92 /litre I hear now and due to increase again
By: ozplane - 4th March 2011 at 10:00
We’re already there on avgas. My last load was £1.81 per litre. Something to think about when you’re refuelling Sally B.
By: Wyvernfan - 4th March 2011 at 09:31
Strewth.. and we’re heading towards £1.80 A LITRE .

Terry
Just look at the weather forecast, try to choose a calm day with gentle breezes, and go for it. You’ll probably bump in several forumites toting cameras and lenses. As I live just 30 minutes away down the A1 and can get in for nowt, I’ll probably try it for a couple of days (assuming petrol hasn’t reached £10 per litre by then).

Thank you for that information ,i have allways wanted to get there on a training week ,not been to a show at Shuttleworth for about 9 years now since they put the Airshow prices up ,but it would be usefull if you could post on here what is flying with about 2 days advance notice ,as i could only travel there for one day from here in Norfolk ,its a shame the Shuttleworth dont post whats on that week as i am sure it would give them some extra income on that week as well ,as quite a few retired people would go ,like me
