My Dad has had this landing lamp kicking around for years. It was given to him to sell, and has been hawked around many an autojumble, with no success.
It was given to him by a real character (large handle bar moustache, blazer, etc) who said it was off his Lancaster. Can anyone confirm or deny this please?
The lamp is approx 7 1/2″ across and was obviously motored. There’s a section and ref on the glass, but this only refers to the glass. It’s painted a very dark blue, almost black colour, and the only other readable mark is on the bronze gear quadrant.
Any help greatly appreciated.

According to Air Ministry’s good book, the front glass (5c/1516) is fitted to landing lamp Type J (5c/1515)which is/was fitted to Lancasters amongst other types…..

Hard to scale how big it is but looks like the retractible ones from the Lanc and Halifax
