hello to the aviation community,
i just had a sort through my store and found this fuel gauge, i cant seem to find it in any of my AP’s so if anyone can identify this gauge, it would be much appreciated.it has 19FG on it and smiths made, not much more to say.

Yes 19 FG is Hurricane – a nice find!

hi again
i had another look at the gauge and the box and there are the following numbers, 6A792 on the box and 19FG on the actual gauge itself, but then i went on a well known auction site and saw one gauge exactly the same. so i believe its from a hurricane now. but thanks for the help anyway!
regards Lance

No problem; do stick around – we’re a pretty helpful bunch on the whole!
Hey Bruce is your PM box blocked up again ?????
By: Firebex - 28th February 2011 at 20:43
Lance if you are still out there the gauge may also have a 6A number such as 1007 or 1008 or even possibly 327FG or 328FG
if it does let me know and I will PM an offer on your other email address with that well known emporium you occasionaly frequent.(not that infrequently though).
Ta very muchly

Lance,
Welcome to the forum, but please bear in mind that advertising isnt allowed here. We’re happy to help identify things, but using the forum to sell isnt allowed. Sorry!
Items identified often turn up later on a certain well known auction site however!

Gauge i/d
If the numbers are a little lower could it be an early Anson which had the wooden wings (less internal space available) and less-powerful, less thirsty engines?
Just a thought.
Was thinking the same about those funny coloured numbers Bruce.

I think I know what its off but it depends how glowing it is and how much you want for it !!!!

Not Spit or Anson – but looks very radioactive!

Gauge
It looks like a Spit gauge but the numbers are wrong. Apparently the same style gauge is in the Anson so it could be off one of those. The volumes seem about right for that.
Sorry I can’t be more helpful. Hopefully one of the experts will be along soon to tell us what it’s off.
