Please identify old British control column

Can any of the “Spade grip” experts ID this control column salvaged from a scrap yard some years ago.

It has the Dunlop code AH2040 stamped on the one side and what appears to be “D4415” on the other. I have a suspicion it may be from a Fairey Battle but would appreciate confirmation or otherwise.
