In April I am travelling to the Netherlands to pay my respects at the grave of an Uncle lost in 1942. Mid Upper Gunner Sgt L Brettle
(83 Squadron Lancaster-W4799 Lost on 31st December 1942 whilst supporting Mosquitoes on what I belive was the first ever Oboe mission.)
I know where the cemetery is and how it was shot down and by whom etc. The records state that it was lost between Demen and Ravenstein (Noord Brabant), 9 km NE of Oss, Holland. All the crew are buried in Uden War cemetery.
Whilst I know what I have is reasonably detailed-would anyone know of a website-or how I might find out where the exact crash site is-as we are also going to be taking my Uncles last surviving brother with us and it would be a fitting place to have a moments pause for thought etc.
Thanks-any leads appreciated.

Hi Again,
You could try to contact the Heemkundekring Land van Ravenstein via their website http://www.heemkunderavenstein.nl/. It’s a group of local historians. You can find an emailadres when you click on CONTACT on the
home page.

Thanks Gliderspit/Sonderman and all for your quick responses and assistance-already its narrowed down considerably the exact area-as one reference states “Crashed 1km South of Demen”
Demen is only a small village-so may be able to ask locally once in the vicinity.
Thanks once again.
