Original Battle of Britain Paintwork

After huge discussion on a Do17 access panel, I thought it might be nice to share some nicely painted metal work with each other…to get you started, here is the starboard side canopy panel with rail from the Fishbourne Creek Stuka. I think the yellow bit is from the ST unit badge

Cheers Andy…can’t wait to see it!

Nice bit Ian!

Cannot open that pic Brian…..

SFP – will sort some pix out…we could expand this to Luftwaffe parts with original paint in general?!

Nice data plate on the 109 elevator!

I like how they used two rivets (and corresponding plate attachment holes) on the left side, but only one rivet (between the holes in the plate) on right side, as the airfoil section tapered towards the trailing edge; that plate was going nowhere.

So, the Werk Nr. on the plate is not that of the airplane?

Isn’t the Fishbourne Creek recovery photo in your ‘Britain at War’ article, Andy? Here’s some BoB 109 elevator interior colour. Can’t tie down the Werk No. though…

Tony – I went to Hendon a couple of weeks ago and took several pics of this area as the hatch I found was also from a Stuka.

Unfortunately I am away in Europe this week so cant post a pic.

If you look on this image – you will see the yellow octane badge just below the cockpit rail

The white writing just below the red triangle is the 35 ltr Schmierstoff that is on the circular hatch that Andy has from the same aircraft.

That would be lovely Andy old chap! Can I have/use a copy for my collection please? The triangle is octane, I meant the yellow stripe on the right hand side being part of the yellow shield? I have owned it for probably >20 years

I wondered where that ended up….

Stand by, tomorrow I will post a picture of that very bit being recovered!

I think you will find that is the fuel octane triangle, not a unit badge.

PS – Ah….I see what you mean now about the yellow bit. Yes, probably part of the Staffel emblem.
