Chipmunk badge

Evening all,
Would anyone have a colour pic of the badge which appeared on the fin/rudder of factory fresh Chipmunks, please. If not perhaps some person would know the colours involved. Many thanks.

That’s definitely Chipmunk shape. The logo, I showed is more Mosquito, which was used more generically with DH, it seems.

Or how about this one that I’ve just applied to G-AOTR? Taken straight out of an original DHC Flight Manual…:)

Thanks again Janie, the word coming back seems to indicate a black logo.
Kind regards,

This is what is currently on G-AOJR. I’m not qualified to comment on its authenticity.

Thanks Janie and Bruce for your efforts.
The Irish Air Corps took delivery of 12 Chipmunks in 1952, all had the badge at that time but in 1955/56 the colour scheme changed. Pictures of that period are scarce to say the least. Janie I am of the opinion that the badge suggested and posted by JT442 is the nearest, except I am not sure if the word Canada is included.
I often wonder does the good Lord send me these problems to test me?

I’m free!

Sorry, I have no details on that – I suspect it will be the postwar DH badge, but as to colour I really dont know.

I’ve had a mooch through dozens of photographs in the newish tome on the Chipmunk and the badge varies enormously. Quite often there was no badge at all. Can you describe what it is you are after? The DH logo? For Canada, UK, Portugal?

Is it for a particular aircraft? If so, what was the military reg and it may be possible to research that particular aircraft.

Super Chipmunk Badge

I am sure I have seen a cartoon /stylised Chipmunk wearing a cape on some super chipmunks ? similar to the bear on Piper Cubs ??

Tony, it would be worthwhile checking with the DH Museum or perhaps one of the DH affectionados (Bruce?). That’s a pic of a restored example -they could be wrong!
