re;
Theres no way she would be repainted in a civilian scheme, considering they took the effort to fit her out with cannons in 1996.
I doubt LF363 will be fitted with cannons as she tends to wear earlier schemes in green and Brown.
Is it true that the 1st IIC was delivered in time for the Battle of Britain?

Last of the Many
Although she never flew “ops” PZ865 certainly deserves to be remembered as she came out of the factory. What is the point of giving an aircraft a scheme and markings it never had.If it was a replica or (rebuilt from the parts bin) fine but this machine has its own identity and proud history and had been flown by some very famous guys.
When she rolled out at Langley in 1944 they produced a banner for her that carried the legend of all the theatres of conflict Hurricanes took part in (cue for image please) It said it all and she continued to provide a useful service to Hawkers (1127 chase aircraft included) until presented to the BBMF.
Now that would be an interesting project listing all her pilots.

There was talk of her going to India to live but I haven’t heard any more on that for a good while….
No, it was LF363 that was rumoured to be going to India, not PZ.

Personally I’d love to do it in the smart civil racing livery it wore when flown by Peter Townsend, but I can confirm it will be in a SEAC scheme.;)
agree Roobarb old chap! Royal Blue would be lovely!

No but its totally accurate for PZ. And as an ex BBMF guy, I for one would like to see PZ back in her original markings.
Be great to see it in No. 34 Sqdn. Far East markings. “Lupus Vult Lupus Volat”.
Get yer knees brown moocher! You moonies are all the same.

I do hope its the Indian markings option, the Last of the Many has already been done and really doesn’t represent the Hurri as a war machine…:(

From the BBMF webiste: “When PZ865 returns to RAF BBMF next year, she will portray the colour scheme of aircraft “EG-S” of 34 Sqn, based in Palel in India, 1944. The Squadron formed part of the South East Asia Command.”

I read somewhere (FlyPast?) that the new markings will depict a squadron based in India ……………
If it is a squadron in the Far East it would be good to see it in 607 Squadron markings as they operated Hurricanes from 1940 in the Battle of France, Battle of Britain and Hurribombers from Manston before moving to the Far East in 1942 to operate Hurricanes again. Finally converting to Spitfires from 1943 to 1945.
It would also provide recognition to the Auxiliary Air Force and those of many nations who flew with the squadron including the Poles, Free French, Canadians, Americans, Australians, New Zealanders, Burmese alongside the British. The squadron was a real league of nations and still comes together once a year in its home town of Durham despite disbanding in 1957 !

Perhaps she’s going to Afghanistan to make up the shortage of front line aircraft caused by yet another round of defence cuts!

Hopefully to be repainted in her “original” Last of the Many markings!!!!
Not sure if it is the same scheme but I would love to see it in its original all over silver scheme that it wore with Hawkers.
There’s enough Hurris about now in camo to not worry greatly about representing a war machine

PZ865 is currently under the care of ARCo at Duxford for servicing.
