Fleet Air Arm in Stafford?

In Saturdays local paper the ‘All our yesterdays type supplement’ featured the two photos below. I dont think they are WW2 as they are using post war transport ie the ubitquous Bedford. I know the aircraft are Hawker Seafuries one definitely a trainer but why were they in Stafford? The RN had a refueling point in Clayton, Newcastle Staffs at that time but which Navy depot or airfield could they be going to or from? The tank is a Centurion which did a lot of low flying in the area.:D

Could Foregate Street have been the main road through Stafford?

Edit:- to answer my own question, yes, it’s the A34! This might be why these vehicles and loads were there before the motorway network.

This photo and a description appears on ‘staffspasttrack’ historical photo site, where it states that the lorries are from HMS Sanderling, which was an RN maintenance and storage base at Abbotsinch.I suppose that as there were no motorways at the time they might have been on their way to or from there.

Milmeece, HMS Fledgling for groundcrew training, in Staffs is a possibility but I suspect it would have closed after the war. Stretton perhaps?
