DTM Me262?

I visited the Deutsches Technikmuseum yesterday and noticed that behind the Lanc remains and next to the 88 they were putting down a new plinth roughly 262 sized and had laid out a set of Me262 undercarriage as if in preparation for the arrival of a 262, does anybody have an idea which 262 this is in preparation for?
Thanks
Matt

A little photo to show one of the reasons why the DTM’s worth visiting!

There will be an annex at Tempelhof, some larger aircraft as the IL-14 are already there, although not on PV.

SWEET!
They should make Tempelhof *the* flight museum, and keep at least 1 runway open for flying in of guest aircraft! 😀

…. Also the fact that no bus passes the door!

??? No idea what you mean.

Another big question is where is the Condor going to live when it’s completed, not much room for it up there

Yes its an interesting place to visit. I went specifically to see the 110 and the Ju88 but I was struck about the way that the building seems to have been built for the exhibits with a ships mast passing through different floors. Also the fact that no bus passes the door!

What I liked was the fact that the museum seemed to be very active despite the fact all the exhibits are static. They are actively working on the restoration of their JU88, Condor and HS126 and they have working displays of undercarriage, a working link trainer and other hands on exhibits which make the place seem quite dynamic as opposed to a museum in which the exhibits sit around getting dusty and decripit. I also liked the display of two different sides of the coin when it comes to restoration where they have two Bramo 323 Einspritzpumpe, one in NOS condition and one in ground dug condition, it is a simple but excellent display

Was thrilled to get up close and have a poke around a 003! Too bad it wasnt in a 162!

Although not particularly interested in Russian Aircraft I enjoyed seeing this next to the Stuka

That’s my kind of museum. I love it when you find something different around every corner.

Thanks for the replies everyone, It’s a shame its a repro though I was living in hope they had been doing a secret restoration! It does amaze me the number of aircraft they have in such a small space especially considering the aircraft part is about 100 feet up at the top of the new building! Another big question is where is the Condor going to live when it’s completed, not much room for it up there!

Aircraft at the DTM in Berlin

The DTM in Berlin is definately worth a visit.
Only its aviation section is very crowded. The Me110 is shoverd back against the wall in between other aircraft.
Too bad they don’t show the aircraft at Templehof where there is lots of room and lots of history!
The cutaway Ar96 is very interesting to look at as you can see whats inside it behind the sheet metal..
There is an F-86H in Dayton that has had the same done to it.

The best place to find out would be the museum itself. Do you know anyone out there. Hey, you were out there why didn’t you ask, then you could tell us. Go back and ask them.:D

They bought a Herb Tischler fuselage which they are kitting out with original parts. They also have the remains of a crashed aircraft which is providing an ID.

Its being done by the guy who did the cutaway Arado in the exhibition.
