Confused Newbie? Can you help

Hi,

As some of you may know I have been looking into my Grandfather’s service career as a Pathfinder.
However I getting a bit confused with all the various insigners etc, so if the following question are really obvious I apologise for being a bit dense!:D

1. My Grandfather was a Pathfinder and with 97 Squadron, so that is 1 type of badge, 97 squadron were part of Pathfinder Force Group 8 so another badge, then all of them come under the main heading Bomber Command, another badge. So which badge do the airman belong to is it 1 of them or all of them??? I really hope I don’t sound to thick!!

2. The UK PFF badge that was awarded to airmen what colour were they? Silver/Brass(Bronze)/Gold. I have seen loads of replicas and fakes on various websites so have no idea what is genuining?

3. Last but not least I know it is not possible to get replacement medals but you can get replicas, however is there anyway of getting copies of the certificates thay came with the awards (medal certificate/Pathfinder badge). I have applied for my Grandfather’s personnel records so not sure if a copy will come with that. If it is possible to get copies of certificate where do you get them?
