This picture was copied from Alan Gears photo album and I believe could show the 109 that he claimed on April 22nd 1943 whilst in North Africa with 72 Squadron.
Is anyone able to confirm or discredit this.
I would certainly appreciate any help that you may be able to offer me.

All looks a bit temperate – surroundings and uniforms (although I do appreciate not all of North Africa is open desert!)
