Hi folks,
I have a small aircraft panel which is stamped with the following marks.
Is anyone able to tell me what they mean, the manufacturers or identify the aircraft the panel was fitted too?
The first marks are R2 344 which is in a circle.
Then it has the number 571635L3 and also AS571635L1 and AS571635L2.
Many thanks,
TEC

No, not all Mk.s of Halifax were prefixed with 57, but as a lot of parts were common you’ll only find the other numbers on items that were specific the the particular Mark.

Thanks for all your input guys. Its most interesting to find out where the part was made.
Did the codes for all marks of Halifax begin with “57”?

R2 is Rootes Securities, Speke.
You probably have a part form a Rootes built Halifax, they largely built Mk.V aircraft so it may well be from one of those.

There would probably be a batch no somewhere to correlate with any heat teatment etc. During the time when I held an inspection stamp, we were in the process of replacing punches with a vibro-etched numbers to minimise the possibility of fatigue cracks

’57’ part numbers are Halifax.

R2/344 in a circle would conventionally be the identity of the AID or manufacturing inspector who signed the part off.
