Great news, for such a relatively inauspicious but interesting type.

It always looked like a big model plane to me; very simple lines as if it had been carved out of a block of wood.

I remember the crash at Enstone and detouring on our training flights to fly over the airfield and see it lying next to the runway there.

I’ll also never forget sitting in my room at Kidlington and glancing up towards the road a hundred or two yards away and seeing the Enstone Freighter’s cockpit going past on the back of a lorry. I had presumed then that the aircraft had been cut up and scrapped on site after seeing that, but it’s good to hear that at least some major sections exist.

Well done Bristol team for going to a lot of time, trouble and expense to rescue the old bird. I wonder/hope if it will be the subject of a book or magazine article some day?

Anon.
