Funnily enough it looks very similar to my model kit, same paint job!

As I understand it, the Po-2 was found to have a number of problems when it arrived at OW. A huge amount of work has gone into the airframe since then to make it properly airworthy, including making a completely new set of wings for it as thier was so much wrong with the ones it arrived with! All in all, the Shuttleworth engineers have made a silk purse from a sow’s ear.

I read recently on the Wings Over New Zealand Forum that this aircraft was restored in New Zealand when owned by Pat Donovan at Omaka, shortly before it went to Old Warden, and that it taxied at a Classic Fighters airsho but red tape prevented it from flying on that occasion. If it was restored to that condition then, why has it has a long rebuild again now? Was it damaged? Was the NZ restoration not up to scratch? Is it one of those silly UK CAA things where they don’t trust overseas restorers?

Dave, as i understand it there were certain aspects of the structure the UK authorities, LAA, were not happy with.
Im supprised we havent seen any pics of her airborne!

Tremendous!
Here she is in early November.
I was sure I had an older photo of her from last winter in a far less complete state, but I can’t find anything on Flickr.
Looking forward to seeing it in the skies over Old Warden some day soon!
Edit – found this from training week in April 2010. The composition is a little iffy, but the price is right.
