It is currently in New Zealand.

The wings for BR601 were going to be new build but in the end diverted to MH367, so i presume ‘601 will be needing new wings from somewhere ??

All this from previous info on the forum, it’s interesting stuff you find once u start searching……………

I seem to recall that story about the wings being in one of the mags.

It got as far as the fuselage being restored, and that was it. I think the wings ended up on MH367.

If the fuselage is as bad as others done at the time, it might need a little extra attention.

BR601 – This is the ex scrappie up a pole Spit ?? Has this ever flown since semi-restoration / restoration and dare i ask, is it now for re-build, one day to fly and is it likely to stay in New Zealand ??

LIster Gen

I think this is a full scale resin moulded copy of the fibreglass replica Lister moulded from a set of Lister parts as used in the catering truck on the set of 633 Squadron at Bovingdon.
I say this as the scratches are identical to the original generator left behind when they made the War Lover and which was recently discovered in a charity shop in Hemel Hempstead.
If one looks carefully you see the marks left by Steve McQueens boot when he “kick Started” it one day.
A real gem and very difficult to find in such good condition these days.

Aircleaner on the gen set looks like the one on my ’43 Ford…

I might be completely wrong, but I’m sure I read it had gone further south than Florida in recent times…

Last I heard of BR601 it was in Florida. Did I miss a move to Greenham Common?

I never cease to be amazed when reading this and many similar threads at the extent and depth of members’ knowledge and the ability to ferret out detail and information from often, to my layman’s view, scant evidence. Fascinating!:)

I have a feeling that its the remains of the front end of BR601. I reckon there’s some original bits in there. – EDIT, having seen where it was found, its definitely that!

I believe the owners have increased security at the site since these break ins….

Is that camouflage with the red primer underneath showing through it, or green primer underneath showing through the red top coat, as I am wondering what military service this Lister Generator may have seen? could it be a BoB veteran? – excellent find!
