Hello,
I am the webmaster of a site created to commemorate the souvenir of a Free French airman Louis .M.Delanchy, posted at 107 sqn in november 1942.
He was flying with W/C P.H.Dutton and his crew(McCarthy & Shepherd) during the “Oyster operation” on the 6th of december 1942 onto Eindhoven.
Their Boston was shot down by german aircraft and they all have been killed when the plane crashed at sea.
On my site I want to commemorate the British crew and I need to know a few about the 3 British men,should someone have pictures of the crew or individuals,texts or documents ,I would be pleased to be in contact and to finaly be able to complete the site.
I would like too ,beiing able to have the name of Louis mentionned on the Runnymede memorial,in order to have at least one place where one may remind them all together.

His sister Alice, my mother, named me after him when I was born in Dec 44, two years after he and his crew were lost off Holland. I hope that you see this message because in the course of creating wall-mounted displays of the medals won by both my late-uncle and my late-father I discovered that PO M L Delanchy Free French Air Force was entitled to the award of British Defence medals.

I’m not sure how much you know already so I’ll just give you what I’ve found from a quick Google search.
Wing Commander Peter Hiley Dutton (34040) was the son of Reginald John Garfield Dutton and Dora Annie Dutton. At the time of his death he was 29 years of age and was married to Marjorie Winifred Dutton of Edinburgh. A quick look at the BMD indices shows he was born in either January, February or March of 1913 and his birth was registered in the district of Spilsby in Lincolnshire. He is remembered at St. Clement’s Church, Skegness.
The London Gazette records his promotion from Flight Lieutenant to Wing Commander effective the 1st of June 1941 in London Gazette Issue 35187, page 3222.
Flight lieutenant Robert William McCarthy, DFM, was 24 at the time of his death and was the son of Robert and Margaret McCarthy. His service number as an Officer was 49252 but the London Gazette records the following promotions:
From Flight Sergeant to Pilot Officer effective 1st June 1942, Gazette Issue 35671, page 3606.
From Pilot Officer to Flying Officer effective 1st December 1942. Gazette Issue 35858, 8/1/43.
His original service number was 532666.
Flight Lieutenant Norman Henry Shepherd, DFM, was the son of Samuel Henry and Ada May Shepherd of Knowle, Bristol. He was 28 at the time of his death.
His service number as an Officer was 48980 and the London Gazette carries the following promotions:
From Warrant Officer to Pilot Officer effective 1st May 1942, London Gazette Issue 35615, page 2876.
From Pilot Officer to Flying Officer effective 1st November 1942, London Gazette Issue 35858.
His original service number was 581354.
I’m afraid I can’t find the other promotions or the dates for the award of the DFM’s but I will carry on looking later.
