I found a photo yesterday of my father and what appears to be a group of trainees.
On the reverse of the photo is the following-
17 Squadron (The 17 isn’t 100% clear and may be wrong)
6 Flight
15 I.T.W
Bridlington
14/1/44
I know very little about what my father did during the war other than the occasional mention of Wellingtons. However if he only went through initial training in 1944 then presumably any flying in Wellingtons would have been during the training period not in actual service???
Any information or leads of any sort would be appreciated.
Thanks
Bazza

Your father and ITW Bridlington
Hi there
My name is Helen Spencer. My uncle, Joseph Thompson, was in 15 ITW at Bridlington from January 1944 to March. He served with Bomber Command as an air gunner and I have all the letters he wrote home (including those from Bridlington during his training). What I DON’T have is the photo of his Flight at Bridlington. Please feel free to contact me if you’d like to know more.
My Uncle’s letters can be found here…
