Hi guys,
I recovered a large amount of wreckage from the Crash site of a Halifax Bomber back in 1990. One piece has always intrieged me as it has confusing stenciling?? I’m hoping that there are some experts out there that can work it out?
Photo below, but this is what i think i can make out. It was a Mk VII Halifax so assume thats what the Mk 7 stands for??

DTD refers to the ‘directorate of technical development’ they were the department that set the specifications for MOD materials. EG DTD 585 is hydraulic fluid.

Ok Alan, thanks.
Why is it every Post i get involved in becomes a colour / paint debate

I am not sure if it is only the first line that is relevant to the paint finish, but as it is stenciled in a single block it is likely that the whole text refers to the paint finish.

Thanks Alan,
Of all the things i’ve imagined it means over the years…..the paint finish code was never one of them!!! Is it just the first line that is relevent to the paint finish?

That is refering to the paint.
DTD 314 and more specificly DTD 314B was “Matt Pigmented Oil Varnishes and Primer”
